FAQS
What is this release form all about? Am I signing my life away?
A release form is standard for anyone who appears in any film. Every person in our film, from every member of The Adicts to every punk kid we met on the street has signed this exact release. All it means is that you give us permission to show your performance and use what you say in our film.
Why does the person filming me have to sign, too?
Since we didn’t film you ourselves, whoever did film you has to give us permission to use what they shot in our film. Keep your own copy—it still belongs to you.
What about the rights to our music?
Don’t worry—you still own the rights to your music. The release form you sign is just giving us permission to include your band and your band’s live performance in the movie and anything relating to the movie (for instance, on our website or on the DVD). Your music is yours—we just want to show it. Like we said, if we use your clip in the movie and you suddenly become famous and get a record contract, that’s not our fault!
Can I answer more than one response?
Yes, you can submit as many times as you want. However, each submission must be mailed separately. A separate tape, Submission Form, Release Form (one for each member of the band), and $5 materials fee is required for every submission. Do you accept international submissions?
Yes, we definitely encourage international submissions. What format does it have to be in?
Your submission must be on one of the following formats:
- mini-DV tape
- DVD
- VHS
- CD-R with the following file types:
- Windows Media Player, QuickTime, or MPEG.
- We accept media formats from all countries.
- If you can upload your clip to a website as a downloadable file, you can submit us a copy of the URL instead. To do this, you should have access to your own webpage and know how to turn a video clip into a downloadable Windows Media Player, QuickTime, or MPEG file. Be sure to write down the URL for this webpage on your Submission Form before you send it in. If you have any questions about how to do this, you should probably just send in your tape.
What are my band’s chances of making it into the film?
It depends. This is not a talent contest. We’re looking for a variety of music and bands. Your band may be just as good as some of the bands that we pick, but we may pass over you because we already have bands with the same kind of sound.
Give us your best performance, but don’t forget to concentrate on the clip where you tell us about your band and your local scene. The answer portion is just as important as the song you perform. The better and more creative your answers are, the more likely we are to use your clip. The more unique the answers are, the more clips we’ll use.
How do I know if I’m in the movie?
That’s the fun part. The only way to find out is to SEE THE MOVIE!!! (Seriously, though. Even if we don’t put your band in the movie, you may very well end up in the DVD.) |
